Person of the year

An extraordinary disabled person with complex needs who inspires those around them through their achievements.  They may have overcome personal challenges, advocated for others, or simply spread joy and positivity in their community.

Young person of the year

A remarkable young disabled person (under 18) with complex needs who inspires others through their achievements. They may have shown strength through a difficult time or brought joy and positivity to others – at home, at school or in their community.

Young sibling of the year

A young person (under 18) who has a disabled brother or sister with complex needs and goes above and beyond to support them. Whether they’ve shown kindness, patience, understanding or simply been a constant source of joy and encouragement, this award recognises the unique bond between siblings and the incredible role they play in each other’s lives.

Family carer of the year

An outstanding family member who provides exceptional care and support to a disabled loved one with complex needs. Whether they are a parent, grandparent, sibling or other relative, this award honours their dedication, compassion and the often unseen sacrifices they make every day to support someone they love.

Volunteer of the year

An incredible volunteer who has made a real difference to the lives of disabled people with complex needs. Whether through their time, energy, or unwavering kindness, this individual goes above and beyond to support others.

Campaigner of the year

Celebrating someone who has spoken up and taken action to make the world a better, fairer place for disabled people. Whether they’ve shared their own experiences, raised awareness, or fought for change in their community – this award recognises their courage, passion and determination to make a difference.

Fundraiser of the year

Someone who has gone the extra mile to raise vital funds for Sense to support disabled people with complex needs. Whether through a personal challenge, a creative idea, or community event, this individual has shown dedication, passion and generosity—making a real difference through their fundraising efforts.

Digital voice of the year

Celebrating an inspiring influencer or content creator who uses their digital platform to raise awareness and champion the voices of disabled people. Through creativity, authenticity, and powerful storytelling, they engage audiences, challenge perceptions, and make a positive impact online and beyond.

Journalist of the year

Recognises a journalist who has shown exceptional commitment to telling the stories of disabled people. Through thoughtful reporting, in-depth features, or powerful storytelling, they raise awareness, challenge stereotypes, and help give a voice to those often unheard.
